About the Cover

Cover Figure

COVER PICTURE: Salmonella typhimurium persist inside of macrophages within the mesenteric lymph nodes of chronically infected mice. Frozen sections of mesenteric lymph nodes were labeled with anti-Salmonella antibody (green; the bacterium appears yellow), antimacrophage antibody, MOMA-2 (red), and ToTo-3 to stain all nuclei (blue). The image is a projection of a 15- m z-stack collected through the 40X objective on a Bio-Rad Laboratories MRC-600 confocal microscope. Volocity 2.0 was used to project the three-dimensional image. See related article by Monack et al., pp. 231-241.
