COVER PICTURE:
Salmonella typhimurium persist inside of macrophages within the mesenteric
lymph nodes of chronically infected mice. Frozen sections of mesenteric
lymph nodes were labeled with anti-Salmonella antibody (green; the
bacterium appears yellow), antimacrophage antibody, MOMA-2 (red), and ToTo-3
to stain all nuclei (blue). The image is a projection of a 15-
m z-stack collected
through the 40X objective on a Bio-Rad Laboratories MRC-600 confocal microscope.
Volocity 2.0 was used to project the three-dimensional image.
